Pittsburgh Spring Weather & Travel

What to Wear in Spring

By , About.com Guide

When early spring has sprung, you'll want to get outside and really experience Pittsburgh first-hand. Bring jackets, sweaters, and other "layers" to enjoy the warming temperatures and chilly evenings. Average highs in the 50s and low 60s in March and April, and into the low 70s by May.

Be prepared for anything! Spring weather in Pittsburgh can be pretty fickle with March afternoons in the high 70s and surprise snowfalls as late as May.

Average Temperatures:
March Low 30.1º High 49.5º
April Low 39.1º High 60.7º
May Low 49.2º High 70.8º

Average Precipitation:
March 3.17 in.
April 3.01 in.
May 3.80 in.

Pittsburgh is often a bit rainy at this time of year (especially in May), so don't forget to pack an umbrella! Add in golf slacks, sweaters, and a light windbreaker and you're set for just about any of our unpredictable spring weather.
