Zipcar car sharing offers an innovative, economical, and environmentally responsible way to get around Pittsburgh. With a Zipcar account, you share access to any of 50+ vehicles located downtown and in the greater Pittsburgh area.
How Zipcar Works:
The first step in using Zipcar is to sign up for a membership. Plan details can be found on their Web site. Once you've enrolled, you're given a Zipcard (electronic key) that opens the doors to the Zipcars. When you need a car, you just reserve it online or by phone. Then you're off - to a meeting, to run errands, or to hit the lumber yard. Once you're done, just return the car to it's designated parking space, all for one hourly rate that covers gas, premium insurance and 150 free miles. All you pay for is the drive.
Zipcar Eligibility Requirements:
If you're 21, have a valid driver's license from any country (for at least one year) and a clean driving record, you're in.
Where are the Cars Located?:
Most Zipcars are located in downtown Pittsburgh and the Oakland neighborhood, specifically on and near the campuses of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh (although the age requirement of 21 means that a lot of undergraduates won't be able to use the cars).
Zipcar is convenient, affordable, reliable, and great for the planet. Join the transportation revolution that washingtonpost.com called the "wave of the future."
