Making plans for Thanksgiving dinner in Pittsburgh? If you don't really feel like cooking and aren't heading to Grandma's for Thanksgiving dinner, how about letting someone else do all the work? A number of Pittsburgh area restaurants are serving dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Plus, others which will do all the cooking for you - just pick up dinner and take it home.

Pittsburgh Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving Dinner

Several restaurants in Pittsburgh are open for Thanksgiving dinner, though you may have to be flexible, especially if you have a large party. Earlier seating times tend to go first. In all cases make a reservation early.

Alfano's at the Quail

A traditional menu of Thanksgiving favorites will be served family style at each table in this restored 1837 mansion in Washington County. Hours: 12:30 - 6:00 p.m. Price: $27.95 for adults; $10 children 10 and under.

Duranti's

This Oakland eatery is serving up Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, with reservations from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. $23.99 includes a hot and cold buffet, salad bar, dessert bar, coffee, tea and soft drinks. A variety of main courses are available including roast turkey, honey glazed baked ham, filet mignon, pork chops, prime rib, salmon filet, orange roughy and crabcake.

For Thanksgiving dinner with a different twist, try the Thanksgiving dinner cruise on the Gateway Clipper's Majestic. A single dinner cruise boards at 2:00 p.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy traditional Thanksgiving fare and a live band. The cost, including tax and gratuity, is $31.95 for adults, $30.95 for seniors (60 and over), and $11.95 for children, ages 3-12.

This grand, restored train station hosts one of Pittsburgh's most popular Thanksgiving buffet meals, featuring turkey, glazed ham, prime rib, baked cod and plenty of side dishes and deserts. Reservations can get backed up later in the day, so be prepared to wait a bit for your seating. Hours: 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Price: $28.99 adults; children 4 to 12, $12.99.

Hyeholde

One of Pittsburgh's most romantic and elegant restaurants, Hyeholde is a popular place for Thanksgiving dinner. They're serving their traditional Thanksgiving buffet of popular holiday favorites from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Price: $37 per person, children 5-12 $18.50, children 4 & under free. Reservations required.

Le Pommier

This popular French bistro is offering a prix-fixe menu with four courses on Thanksgiving Day. Entree choices range from traditional turkey and trimmings to braised duck, venison, or halibut. Seating from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Price: $55 for adults; $25 child menu also available. Limited seating. Reservations suggested.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner feast with all the trimmings, served buffet style - a great option for travelers in route on Thansgiving Day. Thanksgiving buffet seatings are available from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Regular dinner service available from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Price: $34.95; children 6-12, $16.95; under 6 are free. Park in the airport short-term lot near the hotel and get a $5 parking discount from the restaurant.

In addition to the restaurants and hotels covered above, Thanksgiving dinner is also served at many other Pittsburgh hotel chains. A few, though not many, Asian and Indian restaurants can also be found open on Thanksgiving Day.
