Located in northern Cambria County, in the scenic Allegheny Plateau Region of western Pennsylvania, the 6,249-acre Prince Gallitzin State Park is a favorite spot for camping, boating, swimming and fishing.

Prince Gallitzin State Park is located in northern Cambria County, and is accessible via PA 36, PA 53 and US 219.

Admission & Fees:

Prince Gallitzin State Park is free and open to the public. Certain activities within the park, such as boat rentals, will incur their own fees.

What to Expect:

Surrounding the picturesque 1600-acre Glendale Lake, Prince Gallitzin State Park offers swimming, boating, fishing, scenic vistas, hiking and biking trails and a large campground with some campsites located on the lake shore.

Swimming:

The sandy beach swimming area at Prince Gallitzin State Park is open from late-May to mid-September, from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. A second, guarded swimming beach is located at the campground, for the use of campers only.

Boating & Boat Rentals:

Glendale Lake at Prince Gallitzin State Park has nine public boat launch areas, and three public mooring facilities. Boat rental concessions are located at Crooked Run Campground and Muskrat Beach areas.

Where to Eat:

Over 1,000 picnic tables are located throughout Prince Gallitzin State Park, most of them near the swimming area. Food concessions and public restrooms are also located in and around the swimming area.

Trails:

The 20-mile snowmobile trail network, Killbuck Run Trails, in Prince Gallitzin is open for mountain biking and hiking. The Tykes Bike Area, an oval loop of mounds and dips located at the east end of the campground, is especially popular with the youngsters. Adult supervision required. Hiking at Prince Gallitzin is also popular, with 12 miles of trails offering easy to moderate hiking and many scenic views.

Camping:

Prince Gallitzin State Park is best known for its large campground situated at the shore of Glendale Lake. The 420 site tent and RV campground is open from mid-April through the end of October. Almost a third of the campsites have electric hook-ups, and there are also some specially designated pet campsites. Ten modern cabins are available for year-round rental.
