What to Expect at PNC Park

Before the Game

The gates at PNC Park open 1 1/2 hours prior to game time on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and 2 hours prior to weekend game times (Saturday and Sunday) and Opening Night. The Riverwalk between PNC Park and the river opens a half-hour prior to the gates.

Food & Concessions

Come hungry! PNC Park offers a wide variety of local favorites alongside more traditional ballpark fare. Yes, you can still find peanuts, hotdogs & Cracker Jacks. But you can also enjoy pierogies, kielbasa and local pizza from Vincent's in Greentree. At Manny's barbeque, you'll often find former Pirates catcher Manny Sanguillen signing autographs while you wait in line for one of the barbeque specials. At Quaker Steak & Lube -- a restaurant with roots here in Western PA -- you'll find great wings in a variety of sauces (dare you to try the ATOMIC wings). There are also good fish sandwiches at Benkovitz Seafood and greek food at Pop-A-Dukes Gyros. If you're hungry, the best, however, is the Pittsburgh famous Primanti Brothers sandwich which piles huge servings of meat, cheese, cole slaw and french fries all between two buns.
PNC is one of the few ballparks in the country that lets you bring in outside food and water. Bottled drinks (no alcohol) must be in plastic, see-through bottles and fit into a 16"x16"x8" soft-sided bag or cooler. Children's juice boxes are also allowed. No glass, cans, hard-sided coolers or ice packs (freeze the juice boxes and use those instead!).
Prices for the fancy food is sometimes a bit high, but the basic hotdogs, drinks, popcorn and beer are very reasonable.

Fun for the Kids

On Sundays when the Pirates play at home, a Kid's Fun Zone is set up out on Federal Street adjacent to PNC Park about 2 1/2 hours prior to game time. Kid's Fun Zone is free to all fans ages 12 and under with fun games, activities and entertainment.

If your future Buc starts to get restless during the game, PNC Park also has a Kids Play Land. Open for kids age 5-10 (with an accompanying adult), the play land is located at the Right Field Gate, with a miniature version of PNC Park and a play set. Open from the time the gates open until the 8th inning.
