Bruster's Ice Cream
From its humble beginnings as a family-owned ice cream shop in Western Pennsylvania, Bruster's now has more than 210 stores in the eastern United States - including 30 in the Pittsburgh region. They dish out over 140 yummy homemade flavors on a rotating schedule, plus ice cream cakes and pies, blasts, shakes, and smoothies.

Ten Pittsburgh area locations of this franchise ice cream shop offer numerous unique flavors of creamy ice cream. They will also create your own favorite flavor for you, with your choice of base ice cream and add-ins.
Dave & Andy's Homemade Ice Cream
This popular Oakland ice cream shop has been dishing out ice cream in Pittsburgh since 1983. Known for their unique, homemade flavors and the M&M they put in the bottom of each waffle cone to hold the ice cream in. Dave & Andy's ice cream is also served at Church Brew Works, Palomino, Soba and the Murray Avenue Grill.
Glen's Frozen Custard
A drive out to Springdale, east of Pittsburgh, is worth the trip, when you get your first taste of the creamy frozen custard at Glen's. They also serve homemade sherbert, cakes and pies, and popular Glenwich sandwich (vanilla custard between two chocolate cookies). Picnic tables and an 18-hole miniature golf course help make it an outing.
Hagen Ice Cream
Hagan has been churning out ice cream in Western Pennsylvania for over 125 years, ever since the days when ice cream was delivered by horse-drawn wagon from their Uniontown plant. They don't operate their own ice cream shops, but Hagan ice cream can be found at grocery stores throughout the Pittsburgh area.
Hank's Frozen Custard
Hand-dipped custard with 10 percent milk fat is just one of the reasons that Hank's in New Brighton is so popular. They also offer a complete mexican food menu with tacos, burritos, enchiladas and tostados, along with favorites like steak or chicken salads, burgers and fresh-cut fries. Open Spring through Fall.
Kerber's Dairy & Ice Cream
Farm-fresh milk from local cows is processed at this North Huntingdon dairy, and used to make their signature ice cream flavors. Lots of fun flavors for kids including Cow Patty, Muddy Sneakers, Dinosaur Crunch and Play Dough. Kerber's also has a deli, and serves hot lunches, snack items and baked goods.
Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor
Take a step back in time at this 1920's ice cream parlor, complete with marble soda fountain, mahogany woodwork and penny candies. They sell Reinhold's ice cream by the scoop, as well as a lunch menu of soups and sandwiches. Located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh.
Mulberry Street Creamery
This family-run creamery in Kittanning serves up award-winning gelato and custard in a wide-variety of flavors, plus sorbet and italian ice. The Creamery is open seven-days a week and is primarily staffed with the family's children and friends.
Reinhold Ice Cream
The only remaining ice cream factory in Pittsburgh (we used to have 17), Reinhold sells it's premium ice cream at grocery stores across the Pittsburgh region. You can also find it dished up at area Eat 'n Park Restaurants and Kennywood Amusement Park. If you're feeling creative, you can order a custom ice cream flavor online, and have it shipped to you or pick it up at the North Side factory.
Rita's Italian Ice
Twenty-two locations in the Pittsburgh area serve up Italian ices, cream ices, gelati, frozen custard and their famous Rita's Misto shakes. Rita’s Italian Ices are made fresh daily and available in more than 30 different flavors.
