When the sun goes down the lights twinkle at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Polar Lights sponsored by First National Bank. Stroll through thousands of glimmering lights from the PPG Aquarium to the new Water's Edge exhibit. Brighten up your holiday season with a light show billed as one to rival the Northern Lights, plus enjoy ice-carving demonstrations and entertainment each evening.First National Bank Polar Lights is unique from any other light display because it is designed to mimic one of natures most magnificent events Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. We used thousands of blue and white lights to set the mood at the beginning of the Zoo, but the culmination of the event is at Waters Edge and the PPG Aquarium where fantastic, colorful, moving light streams will create the atmosphere of the Arctic North, says Frank Pizzi, curator of grounds and horticulture.
