Kennywood Holiday Lights - 2013

For 2013, Kennywood will once again open for December weekends for Kennywood Holiday Lights, with a festive light display around the lagoon, plus holiday-themed rides, holiday foods, Christmas carolers and other holiday activities. Over 1 million holiday lights sparkle throughout the park for this one-of-a-kind holiday treat.

Dates and Times:

Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights, November 29 - December 22, 2013, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Prices:

Admission to Kennywood Holiday Lights is $13.99 per person online (plus $1.25 processing fee) or $15.99 per person (plus $1 amusement tax) at the gate. Children 2 years of age and younger are free. Parking is also free. $13.99 tickets are available from participating Giant Eagles. If you plan to visit more than once, then a Holiday Lights Holiday Pass is also available for $24.99 (plus $1 amusement tax and $1.25 processing fee).

What to Expect:

A Kennywood holiday lights show, timed to a soundtrack of classic holiday songs, will every half hour around the lagoon starting at 5:30 p.m. The show runs for approximately 10 minutes and there are two different versions. A few holiday-themed rides will be open as well, including the carousel, Kangaroo, Paratrooper, Turtle, Ghostwood Estate with a holiday twist, select Kiddieland rides, and a Holiday Lights themed Olde Kennywood Railroad (the Gingerbread Express). Santa will be on hand, of course, for meet-and-greets, letter-writing opportunities, cookie decorating and pictures. Holiday entertainment will be provided by a number of area choral groups every hour beginning at 6:00 p.m. each evening at the Sounds of the Holidays Stage, across from the Parkside Café. Performances will last approximately 30 minutes.

The Kennyville Stage also features a variety of nightly entertainment including: 
  • Doc Dixon’s Holiday Lights Magic Show at 5:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
  • Parker’s Dance Party at 6:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.
  • Readings of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by local Pittsburgh personalities at 7:30 p.m. 

Holiday Food:

Several food stands will be open throughout the park serving up seasonal fare such as kettle corn, s'mores, Potato Patch Fries and a variety of hot drinks, including hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

Before you Go:

Kennywood will present fireworks on Friday, November 29 only to kick off the Kennywood Holiday Lights celebration. Fireworks are at 9:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Location & Directions:

Kennywood Holiday Lights are held at Kennywood Amusement Park, 10 miles from downtown Pittsburgh on PA 837 along the Monongahela River.

Directions:

Follow Interstate 376 (Parkway East) to the Swissvale Exit (No. 7). From this exit, follow the Kennywood arrows.
