Pittsburgh Farmers Markets

Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania farms and farmers markets offer a wonderful variety of homegrown produce, goods, events, festivals and fun. This list includes Pittsburgh farmers' markets, as well as permanent roadside produce stands. Most Pittsburgh area farmers' markets are open from sometime in May to sometime in November, but dates and available items vary by location.

1. Ambridge Farmers Market

May 2 to November 21, 2013
The Ambridge Farmers Market, sponsored by the Beaver County Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association, is held in the parking lot of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 624 Park Road off Route 65 on Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m.

2. Beechview (Citiparks) Farmers Market

June 27 through November 21, 2013
One of seven CitiParks Pittsburgh farmers markets, the Beechview farmers market is held in the St. Catherine of Siena church parking lot, Broadway Ave. and Belasco St. on Thursdays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

3. Bloomfield (Citiparks) Farmers Market

May 16 to November 21, 2013
One of seven CitiParks Pittsburgh farmers markets, the Bloomfield farmers market is held in the St. Maria Goretti School parking lot, Cedarville St. & Friendship Ave., on Thursdays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

4. Carrick (Citiparks) Farmers Market

June 19 to Nov. 27, 2013
One of seven CitiParks Pittsburgh farmers markets, the Carrick farmers market is held in the Carrick Shopping Center, 2100 Brownsville Road and Parkfield St., on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

5. Downtown (Citiparks) Farmers Market

May 17 through Nov. 8, 2013
One of seven CitiParks Pittsburgh farmers markets, the downtown Pittsburgh farmers market is held at the City-County Building, 400 Grant St., on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

6. East Liberty (Citiparks) Farmers Market

May 13 through November 2013
One of seven CitiParks Pittsburgh farmers markets, the East Liberty farmers market is held at 5800 Penn Circle West on Mondays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

7. Farmers@Firehouse

May 11 to November 23, 2013
Open Saturday mornings in the Strip District (2216 Penn Ave.) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Farmers@Firehouse is one of Pittsburgh's most popular Farmers Markets with offerings from dozens of local farmers and growers. Most of the meat and produce is certified organic. Farmers@Firehouse has received several "best farmers' market" accolades.

8. Monroeville Lions Farmers Market

Shop for fresh homemade or homegrown foods at the Monroeville Market (Monroeville Community Park, 2399 Tilbrook Rd.) every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, May 11 to Nov. 23, 2013.

9. North Side (Citiparks) Farmers Market

May 17 to November 22, 2013
One of seven CitiParks area markets, the North Side farmers market is held in Allegheny Commons Park (E. Ohio St. and Cedar Ave. across from Allegheny General Hospital) on Fridays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

10. Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip

Located between 16th and 17th Streets on Smallman Street in the Strip, Pittsburgh Public Market offers locally grown food, fresh-baked goods, handmade crafts and more from a variety of vendors. Open Fridays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (some vendors until 6:00 p.m.), Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year-round, indoor market will be moving into new, larger digs at 2401 Penn Ave. in late summer 2013.

11. South Side (Citiparks) Farmers Market

May 14 to November 2013
One of seven CitiParks area markets, the South Side farmers market is held in the lot at Carson & 18th Sts. on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
