"Sacred Ground" marks the final resting place of the 40 brave heroes of Flight 93, and the architects designed it to be "an everlasting memory of their courage." A black-slate plaza and sloped wall form a parapet over which visitors can overlook the crash site. Niches in the wall can accommodate remembrances from visitors. The field surrounding the Sacred Ground will bloom with wild flowers changing color by season.
