77th MLB All-Star Game

The MLB All-Star game, also known as the "Midsummer Classic," is an annual showdown between baseball players from the National League and the American League. Pittsburgh plays host to the 2006 All-Star Game at PNC Park, considered by many as "the best stadium in baseball," and home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 2006 All-Star Game marks the fifth time that the City of Pittsburgh has hosted the Midsummer Classic. Forbes Field was site of the 1944 and 1959 All-Star Games and Three Rivers Stadium hosted the 1974 and 1994 All-Star Games.

Get All-Star GameTickets:

Tickets for the 2006 All-Star Game have long been sold out, but you can still find people selling their tickets online through Tickets Now - MLB All Star Game Tickets at PNC Park.

Another option for snagging tickets to the MLB All-Star Game is to hold out until just before the event's start time and head over to the designated scalping area at Tony Dorsett and North Shore drives.

Where Should I Park?:

Parking will be very limited near PNC Park during All-Star Week, and there will be no parking on the North Shore for the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. The best places to park will be across the river in the downtown area. There are seven city-owned garages and plenty of downtown private lots within walking distance of the stadium. Access to PNC Park from downtown is via the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which is open only to foot traffic on game days.

What About Road Closures?:

Don't plan on driving in the area immediately around PNC Park during the All-Star Game. There will be a number of downtown streets shut down as well. There will be detour signs posted throughout the city.

Is There Alternative Transportation?:

If you don't feel like driving or parking downtown, the Allegheny County Port Authority has greatly expanded its service for All-Star week, with additional bus and rail services to downtown destinations. Local taxi service is also expanded, but you'll have to call one to come get you, or pick one up from the airport or your hotel. Taxis in Pittsburgh generally don't answer to hails.

Boating Behind PNC Park:

Enjoy the All-Star Game from the river behind PNC Park - you never know, you might be able to snag a home-run ball! There are restrictions, however. The Allegheny River will be divided into thirds parallel to the field, with non-motor boats (25 feet and under) occupying the area closest to the park, motor boats (25 feet and under) in the middle and all other vessels in the back. There will be no anchoring, as boats must be in motion at all times.
