Educational Summer Camps in Pittsburgh

Academic Adventure Camp

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford offers an overnight camp for students in grades 6-8. Participants engage in classes and field trips related to a chosen focus group topic. This year's topics include: The Environment and Computing & Technology.

Almost Authors Day Camp

A one-week summer writing program for students who like to write poetry, fiction or non-fiction. Students are encouraged to experiment and share in a relaxed and supportive environment. Both experienced and novice writers are welcome.

Camp Entrepreneur

The National Education Center for Women in Business in Greensburg PA hosts two summer programs for girls ages 12-17 designed to help them develop the necessary skills to run their own business.

Camp Fitch Computer Camp

Summer camp provides age-appropriate instruction in several computer languages and a variety of applications, such as word processing, desk top publishing, data base construction, spread sheets, Web page design and the Internet. Traditional camp activities at Camp Fitch on Lake Erie also available.

Carnegie Mellon University Pre-College Program

Seven different six-week summer residential programs are offered on the CMU Campus: Advanced Placement Early Admissions, Summer Academy for Minority Students, Architecture, Art, Design, Drama, and Music.

Duquesne University Multicultural Computer Academy

Summer program provides students ages 10-16 with a strong academic foundation in computer science, while also including sporting and cultural activities.

iD Tech Camp

internal Drive Tech Camps held at Carnegie Mellon and other prestigious universities across the nation, include programs for students ages 8 - 17 in areas such as building robots, Web page and graphic design, and video game or movie creation. To make it easier on parents, children can attend day camp, extended day camp or overnight camp.

RoboCamp

Robocamp, the brainchild of the National Robotics Engineering Consortium and The Pittsburgh Robotics Initiative, helps young campers learn about robots and control systems. This is a really cool camp!

Sewickey Academy Summer Programs

Sewickley Academy offers a wide variety of one and two week summer programs for students ages 4 though grade 12, including academics, play groups, sports and performing and visual arts.

St. Vincent College Challenge Program

Designed for gifted, creative, or talented students, grades 6-12, this week long summer program offers exciting courses including arts, digital publishing, psychology, architecture, rocketry, and creative minds.

Western PA Writing Project - Young Writers' Institute

YWI offers writers grades 3-12 creative writing workshops in poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and memoir. Students work with teachers who are fellows of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project, or instructors from the Creative Writing Program at the University of Pittsburgh. The institute offers a teacher/student ratio of 2:15 and several locations around the Greater Pittsburgh area.
