To Donate Blood
All eligible donors are being asked to give blood at Central Blood Bank,
American Red Cross or community collection centers so reserves will be
available if needed for victims in yesterday's attacks. Hundreds of units of
red blood cells have already been shipped from Pittsburgh to the New York
Blood Center.
Walk-ins are accepted, but donors should make an appointment with the
Central Blood Bank by calling (866) 366-3771. The American Red Cross can be
reached at (800) 542-5663. Donors must be at least 17, weigh 103 pounds to
donate to the Central Blood Bank, or 105 pounds for the American Red Cross,
and be in good health.
