The weekend is fast approaching and you're looking for something to do, right? Don't be a wimp and sit on the couch in air-conditioned comfort - get out and enjoy the beautiful Western PA countryside. Acres upon acres of magnificent rolling hills, thousands of miles of peaceful rivers and dozens of local trails offer an endless choice of healthy and ambitious summer activities for all ages and skill levels. Whether you like solitary walks, biking with the kids or extreme whitewater rafting, you are bound to find something to suit your interest and personality.

Pennsylvania itself means "Penn's Woods," and the state offers some of the finest woodlands and natural areas in America. We love to boast that no matter where you are in PA you are only 15 minutes from one of our state parks (116), state forests (4.5 million acres) or state game lands (2.1 million acres). Pennsylvania is the perfect place to break free from modern civilization and the hectic pace of everyday life.

In the greater Pittsburgh region, you are never far from great hiking, mountain and road biking, walking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, water skiing, golf, sailing, canoeing, in-line skating, kayaking, wind surfing, camping, swimming, fishing, scuba diving, rock climbing  . . . the list goes on. There's not much you can't do here, with the exception of ocean-related activities such as surfing and salt-water fishing. For those who like to observe rather than participate, bird watching provides a relaxing activity that enables you to become one with the outdoors. On the other end of the spectrum, rock climbing and whitewater rafting provide the chance to compete and conquer the natural landscape. There truly is something for everyone in Pennsylvania, so get out of that easy chair, climb in the car and try something new this week!
