Remembering the Heroes of Flight 93
Shanksville, Pennsylvania - One Year Later

"A Time for Honor and Hope"
Shanksville, PA - September 11, 2002

<Previous Picture> <Next Picture>
Temporary Flight 93 memorial is covered with flags, ball caps, stuffed animals, and notes of love, honor, and sadness.

The temporary Flight 93 memorial consists of a section of chain link fence, completely obliterated here by American flags, ball caps, ribbons, notes, and gifts of love. Three 4-by-8 plywood sheets allow people to leave messages -- the middle section, covered with patches from police, fire, and rescue companies across the U.S., is from the original impromptu memorial that was started at the Flight 93 crash site on September 11, 2001. The other two boards are collected when full for safekeeping and new plywood sheets are hung in their place.
