Natural Snow - Canaan Valley, on the west slope of the
Blue Ridge Mountains, boasts one of the highest elevations east of the Rockies
(4280') and over 160" of snowfall annually.
Nordic Activities - A great place to cross-country ski or snowshoe,
Canaan Valley State Park offers more than 30 kilometers of natural snow trails.
Both cross-country skis and snowshoes are available for rental at the resort.
Spectacular mountain
scenery and an average annual snowfall of 160 inches make Canaan Valley the
perfect winter destination. The trails are divided almost equally between
beginner, intermediate and advanced terrains, providing skiers of all
abilities a challenge. The resort is small and definitely geared toward
families, with little nightlife. Children will have fun in the slope side
nursery or through participation in the nationally recognized SKIwee
learn-to-ski program. If downhill isn't your thing, there are over 30 miles
of beautiful, natural snow trails waiting for you and your cross country
skis or snowshoes in the 6000 acres of state park surrounding the ski
resort. Tubing and ice-skating round out the winter package. A
two-for-one ski pass can be
purchased for Canaan Valley and neighboring Timberline Four Seasons Resort -
doubling the trails and the fun!
Getting There: Located 3 1/2 hours from
downtown Pittsburgh via I-79 South to Route 33 East and 32 North. Map
