Philadelphia Visitors Guide - Visit the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley Region of Pennsylvania

With the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is proud of its history, and the city's people, museums, and attractions reflect that pride. While touring Philadelphia, you can travel back in time to the heart of American independence on Independence Mall and walk one of the most historical miles in the country. World-class restaurants, one-of-a-kind museums, a thriving theater district, and major league sports teams all await visitors to this elegant city.

Outside of Philadelphia, you can experience more history at Valley Forge, where George Washington's troops suffered through the long, cold winter of 1976-77. More Revolutionary War battles were fought within a 50-mile radius of Valley Forge than in all of the New England states combined. For a cultural twist, take a drive to Bucks County and discover quaint towns such as New Hope and Doylestown. The Brandywine River Museum, in Chester County, is home to one of the largest collections of works by three generations of artists, the Wyeths.

Got shopping in mind? Then set aside some time for King of Prussia. With the most retail shopping place in the country, The Plaza and The Court at King of Prussia, is the largest mall on the east coast, and one of the world's largest. With eight department stores, 365 specialty shops, and 40 restaurants and eateries, who wouldn't enjoy a day at this shopper's paradise?

The neighboring Lehigh Valley is also not to be missed. Here, you can ride all day at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, or take the state's most colorful tour at the Crayola Crayon Factory at Two Rivers Landing in historic Easton, Pennsylvania. In addition to the factory tour, there are interactive areas for children and a novelty shop that features all Crayola products. In August, music lovers can check out the Bethlehem Musikfest for free jazz, blues, rock, classical, polka, or reggae. Still haven't had enough? You can also enjoy Philadelphia area arts, food, and heritage festivals throughout the year.
