Pittsburgh Area Charity Walks
What a wonderful way to spend time with others who are both health conscious and civic minded, and help raise money for worthwhile Pittsburgh area charities at the same time. Join your friends and neighbors at charity walks such as the MS Walk for Life, Pittsburgh Race for the Cure, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, America's Walk for Diabetes, the American Heart Walk, and many others.
Southwestern Pennsylvania Rail Trails

Keystone State Volkssport Association
A group that sponsors volksmarches, organized walks or hikes of an average 10-20 kilometers, throughout Pennsylvania. Check the Web site for history, upcoming events and more.
Montour Trail
A 23-mile crescent shaped trail around the western and southern parts of Pittsburgh. There are currently 26 more mile of trail under construction. Site has description, maps, and trailhead information.
Pennsylvania Walking Events
Several of these regular walking events are held in Western PA and sponsored by area walking clubs such as West Penn Walkers and Altoona-Johnstown Summit Striders.
Pittsburgh Step Trek
This annual event on Pittsburgh's South Side celebrates Pittsburgh's 700+ stairways and raises money for charity. Pittsburgh has more stairways than any other city in America and more than half of them also double as streets! The Web site isn't updated very regularly, so contact the organization for current details.
