<< Back to Heinz Field Directions/Transportation

Because most of the 6,187 parking spaces in the Heinz Field lots on the North Shore are reserved and pre-sold before the season, fans without a reserved space should utilize the approximately 10,000 parking spaces downtown and in the Strip District and 3,400 spots at Station Square. Additionally, Port Authority buses run from the Park N' Ride lots throughout the city to Heinz Field prior to the game. Fans utilizing the downtown Pittsburgh lots can access Heinz Field by walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which is closed to vehicular traffic on game days, and taking the adjoining riverwalk directly to the stadium. The Gateway Clipper also operates riverboat shuttles for fans who park at Station Square, while Pittsburgh Water Limo operates a Steelers/Panthers game day water limo between the Roberto Clemente Bridge on the downtown Pittsburgh side to the Water-side entrance of Heinz Field.

Popular Heinz Field Parking Options

Downtown & Mellon Arena Lots
The city of Pittsburgh Parking Authority has twelve Downtown lots and garages offering 10,000 spaces with game-day rates of $5. Tailgating is permitted in some lots. Parking is available for a $5 flat rate at most downtown parking lots on game days and a Port Authority Shuttle is available to transport you from the lots to Heinz Field for $1.50 each way. The First Avenue Garage and the Grant Street Transportation Center Garages both have shuttles that run right from the garage. If you choose to park at the Mon Wharf, you can also easily walk over to Heinz field using the new river walkway connection via Point State Park and the Ft. Duquesne Bridge. Downtown parking is also available at the PPG Garage and Stanwix Street / Westinghouse garages ($5-15 on game days/nights). A variety of other downtown garages and lots are also available.

North Shore Parking can be a bit pricey, but there are a few first come/first serve options available: the lots adjacent to the Carnegie Science Center; the Allegheny Center Garage; the North Shore Garage; and Alco Parking Lots 7G, 7H and 7J. Several additional Alco lots are available on a first come/first serve basis for Panthers games only.

Station Square Parking
Fans parking at the approximately 3,400 available parking spaces in the Station Square Garage or West Lots ($8.00) can board a Gateway Clipper Fleet shuttle boat and take a short ride across the Monongahela and Ohio to the North Shore right at the Stadium for $5.00 each way per person. Steelers boat shuttles begin running approximately two hours prior to kickoff and return service begins during the third quarter and continues until after the game is over. Or you can take the "T" from Station Square to Downtown's Gateway Station and then walk across the Ft. Duquesne Bridge over to Heinz Field, or get off at Wood Street Station and take a Shuttle Bus to Heinz Field (using your transfer).

Strip District Parking
Approximately 3,000 parking spaces are available in the Strip District where tailgating is permitted. Parking is available for $3 - $5 and a Port Authority Shuttle (98D) is available to the Stadium for $1.50 roundtrip.

South Side Parking
OK - It's a bit more of a hike, but if you're stuck, Network Parking Co. offers 3,500 spaces on the South Side.
