Heinz Field is located in a perfect riverside location right across from downtown Pittsburgh. Multiple transportation options allow fans to get to Steelers and Panthers games by car, bus, shuttle and even riverboat.

Hop on the Bus

The Port Authority shuttle is considered the most convenient and economical access to Heinz Field and offers a variety of special shuttle options for Steelers and Panther fans headed to Heinz field including suburban and downtown routes. These routes all drop off and pick up passengers at the Heinz Field.

Downtown shuttle service to Heinz Field is available for both Steelers and Panthers games on the 98D Strip District and 98F Grant Street - First Avenue Station routes beginning two hours and 30 minutes prior to kickoff, with return trips running from during the 4th quarter until one hour after the completion of the game. South Hills residents can use the Port Authority T service into downtown and then connect to a game shuttle or take the 98B shuttle bus from South Hills Junction. For current fares and shuttle times see the 2009 Steeler Shuttle Schedule.

Suburban Steelers Shuttles - Park and Ride
Special Port Authority buses offer four special Steelers suburban routes on Steelers' game days at Heinz Field, as well as increased service on several regular routes between the suburbs and downtown. One-way adult fares for all Steelers Suburban routes are $2.00 in Zone 1 and $2.60 in Zone 2. Children ages 6-11 and people with disabilities pay half fare on all Steelers routes, and children five and under ride free.

  • From the North: The express 13S Ross Park and Ride route makes four trips via the I-279 HOV lane to Heinz Field from the Perrysville Park & Ride Lot (480 spaces).

  • From the East: Route 68S Monroeville-East Busway provides service to Heinz Field for Steelers fans from the Monroeville Mall Park and Ride located near Macy's (140 spaces) and Wilkinsburg Park & Ride (748 spaces). Increased game day service is also available on the EBA East Busway (all regular stops and busway park & ride lots). The EBA option will let you off at downtown where you'll have to walk or use one of the other shuttle options to get to Heinz Field.

  • From the West: The 28S West Busway route offers service to Heinz Field from the University Boulevard Park & Ride (600 spaces), Bell Avenue Park & Ride (34 spaces), Idlewood (33 spaces), Crafton Park & Ride (106 spaces) and Sheraden Park & Ride (177 spaces).

  • From the South: 51S South Side-Large-Century III route serves the Large Park & Ride (440 spaces) and Century III Mall Park & Ride (160 spaces), and also provides service to Heinz Field from the South Side Works Parking Garage at 27th and Carson streets.

Also from the South, the Port Authority provides extra light rail service on the T via routes 47S South Hills Village via Overbrook (SHL via Beechview after Sept. 2) and 47L Library via Overbrook. These routes provide frequent service to Station Square and Downtown from several southern park and ride lots along the T, including the 2,200-space South Hills Village Parking Garage (47S route only) where parking is available for $2 on Steelers game days.

Visit the 2009 Port Authority Steelers Service Shuttle site for more information, including current routes and fares.

Station Square - Gateway Clipper Riverboat Shuttles
Station Square, a popular entertainment and retail area, also serves as a terrific option for Panther and Steelers fans on game day. Fans parking at the approximately 3,400 available parking spaces in the Station Square area can then board the Pittsburgh Steelers / Heinz Field Shuttle on a Gateway Clipper Fleet riverboat and take a short ride across the Monongahela and Ohio to the North Shore right at the stadium. Shuttles begin approximately 2 1/2 hours prior to kickoff and run every 5-30 minutes until the game starts. Return trips to Station Square begin in the third quarter and continue until after the game is over. Tickets are $10.00 roundtrip and $5 one way, and can be purchased at the dock on the day of the event. For Steelers home games only, shuttle service is also available from the Monongahela Wharf for the same rate. The Gateway Clipper Fleet also provides Pittsburgh Panthers shuttle service from their Station Square Dock for all University of Pittsburgh Panthers Home Games at Heinz Field.

Driving to the game?
Because most of the lots surrounding the stadium offer pre-sold, reserved parking only, fans planning to drive to Heinz Field should determine their route and parking choices ahead of time and plan to arrive early. See Heinz Field parking options for more details on parking lots and garages.
