Eichner's Family Farm in Wexford is another popular place for local, free-range turkeys, raised without antibiotics or hormones; turkey orders must be made in person at the market. From Schramm's in Penn Township you can pre-order a locally-raised, fresh turkey (from Pound's Turkey Farm) for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Jones Turkey Farm in Cabot, Butler County, raises over 5,000 turkeys and chickens annually, free-range and fed on sweet corn grown right on the farm. A bit farther afield in Mercer County, Dream Thyme Farm raises plump, farm fresh turkeys and chickens fed on organic grains. They also sell some heritage turkeys each year. And if you can't make it to a farm, then Whole Foods Market in East Liberty sells natural, free-range turkeys free of additives, hormones and antibiotics, with certified organic turkeys available by special order. Organic, free-range turkeys from Mary's Turkeys, plus local turkeys from Pound's Turkey, can also be pre-ordered from Sunny Bridge Natural Foods in McMurray, PA.
