The 2012 Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta kicks off five days of non-stop action today for the July 4th holiday weekend, including power boat races, freestyle motocross, a riverside sand beach complete with a world champion sand sculptor, the Beaverland Must-Skis ski troupe, and, of course, the always popular Fourth of July "Flashes of Freedom" Fireworks Fantasia fireworks show from Pittsburgh's own Pyrotechnico. At Point State Park, Colcom will be hosting a Pittsburgh "Cool Off" Kids Zone, with wild, wacky and fun things kids like to do including inflatables and interactive games. There's also dragon boat racing, the "Anything That Floats" race, the cool new "Point SKATE Park" artificial ice rink, and concerts by a variety of local and national acts . Did I mention that it's free? What a way to celebrate the Fourth of July!
