It must be Spring because daffodils are pushing up through the leaves in my backyard, and the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden's 2011 Spring Flower Show opens next Saturday. Each of the 13 rooms in the Victorian glass house and gardens in Schenley Park is filled with a wide variety of spring blooming flowers -- yellow and pink lilies, pansies, delphinium, buttercups, forget-me-nots, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and more. In keeping with the sights of spring, this year's Spring Flower Show also celebrates wind, earth's most ethereal element, with kites, sailboats, mobiles and more.
Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and until 10:00 p.m. on Fridays. Admission is $12 for adults; $11 for seniors (62 and over) and students with ID; $9 for children ages 2-18; and free for Phipps members and children under 2.
