Allegheny County Free Summer Concert Series
Thursday May 28, 2009
Dan Onorato has decided to replace the Courtyard summer concerts with Food Fridays, but the rest of the great (and free!) Allegheny County Summer Concert Series promises to be exciting with free concerts to be held at both South Park and Hartwood Acres (plus a few Big Band Bashes at North Park). Highlights for 2009 include the 15th annual Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Hartwood Acres and alt-country stalwarts Steve Earle, Son Volt and the Old 97s. Old favorites such as the Pittsburgh Symphony and River City Brass Band will be joined by former Rolling Stone guitarist Mick Taylor, Irish folk-rocker Luk Bloom and classic rock band, Foghat.

This news is great!
Pittsburgh always does a great job cataring to the creative side of it’s community members. That’s one of my favorite parts about Pittsburgh…in addition to the amazing sports teams and the progress it’s made economically…while the rest of America suffers in that area.
It sometimes seems like no one else sees the progress Pittsburgh has made, though.
I did come across an article the other day on an internet marketing company that is doing a campaign to get Pittsburgh’s official site to rank #1 on google’s search for “The Best City in the World.”
That’s pretty awesome..and that should help to get the message out to people that this is a pretty great city.
Here’s a link to the article about the campaign…
