Learn a Snow Sport
If you're new to skiing or snowboarding, January is the month to get out and learn. The Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association, in conjunction with SnowSports Industries America, a national nonprofit trade organization for snowsports suppliers, is offering reduced-cost learning programs at many area ski resorts throughout the month.
Pittsburgh area ski resorts participating in these special January ski and snowboard programs include Blue Knob, Hidden Valley, Nemacolin Woodlands, and Seven Springs. Check with each resort for special restrictions and blackout days.
Of course, Boyce Park in Monroeville is always an economical place to learn to ski and snowboard with adult lift tickets just $13 on weekends. Unfortunately, they are still waiting for enough snow and a long enough period of cold weather before they open for the season. Check the snow report for recorded information on conditions and opening.
