Fun Thanksgiving Weekend Activities
Thursday November 27, 2008
Now that the turkey dinner is over, it's time to relax and enjoy the extra long weekend. Whew! Downtown the Celebrate the Season Holiday Parade on Saturday features fabulous floats and some of the area's best high school bands. While you're there, check out the free horse & carriage rides and special shopping deals of Saturdays in the City, or head to the Rink at PPG Place for a skate around the Christmas Tree. Also downtown (or on the nearby North Shore) is the 2008 Backyard Brawl between Pitt and WVU at Heinz Field and the new Isaly's replica in the Miniature Railroad & Village which opens Saturday at the Carnegie Science Center. At Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the annual Winter Flower Show has returned in full holiday splendor. Holiday light displays also offer a great way to relax with family or friends, at Hartwood Acres, in Greensburg, in Clinton, and in nearby Weirton. Or you can get a jump on the holidays by picking out the perfect Christmas tree at one of these Pittsburgh area Christmas tree farms and stands.
