Another Pittsburgh Native on Survivor
The 13th edition of the popular reality show Survivor features yet another contestant with a Pittsburgh connection. Becky Lee, a 29-year-old lawyer from Washington, D.C. grew up in the Pittsburgh area, where she attended school in the Jefferson Hills school district, and earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Survivor Cook Islands will being with the teams organized along ethnic lines, a decision that has already drawn a lot of controversy, and Becky Lee, the daughter of South Korean parents, will be a representative on the Asian team.
Becky Lee joins a fairly large group of Pittsburgh Survivor contestants, including Survivor winners Jenna Morasca (Survivor Amazon) and Amber Brkich (Survivor All-Stars), and popular Survivor contestants Ian Rosenberger (Survivor Palau) and Rafe Judkins (Survivor Guatemala).
On a personal note, I'm not sure why CBS' decision to create Survivor Cook Island teams based on ethnicity is such a hot-button issue. How is race so different than drawing lines based on age or sex, as in last season's edition - Survivor Panama? How do you feel? Click on "comments" below.
