Passionate About Golf?
Wednesday June 1, 2005
Golf in Western Pennsylvania is more than just a sport or a hobby. Part of Westmoreland County native Arnold Palmer's gift to the community, golf here is much more akin to a regional passion. The average golf hole per population in the Pittsburgh metro area is 101 holes per 100,000 people, much higher than the national metro area average of 76 holes. And those holes can be found in some interesting locations - ranging from the top of a slag heap to the storied Oakmont Country Club.
