Off With Their Heads!
Tuesday March 29, 2005
The dinosaurs are coming down. A rare experience for visitors to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the disassembly of Pittsburgh's world-famous dinosaur collection can be viewed live and in person. The disarticulation process will take place during regular museum hours Tuesday - Friday beginning Tuesday, March 29 and is free with museum admission.
The dinosaurs will be worked on in rotation; Allosaurus and Apatosaurus will be the first to undergo their extreme makeover, followed by Diplodocus, and finally, Tyrannosaurus rex. Stegosaurus will stay on display throughout the construction process, as well as CMNH's newest dinosaur, the bizarre, unnamed oviraptorosaur. Much of the dinosaur work will take place in PaleoLab, offering the public another unique vantage point for observing the mysteries and wonders of piecing together the past. All together, the remounting of the dinosaurs will be a spectacular exhibit experience!
