Popping the Popcorn Record
Thursday February 10, 2005
One determined young Pittsburgh cub scout named Ryan Cenk, age 10, popped the national record for the Scouts' annual popcorn sale by selling an amazing 1,032 cases of popped and unpopped popcorn worth $25,006 on behalf of Pack 85 of the Seneca District. Over half of his sales
came from ATM Corp., a company that provides mortgage lending services. Ryan's uncle, who is a friend of ATM's vice president, Bryan Azur, introduced the two, and the executive decided the popcorn tins would make great gifts for his 400 employees. As a reward for Ryan's great sales efforts, the popcorn supplier, Trail's End, is flying Ryan to Walt Disney World. It won't be all play, though - he's been asked to speak at the company's annual sales meeting in Orlando.
