$171 Million Powerball Winner in Pennsylvania

Thursday December 9, 2004
The holidays have come a few weeks early for one lucky individual in Pennsylvania. One of the tickets sold in Pennsylvania for yesterday's Powerball drawing was the single winner of the $171,400,000 dollar jackpot.

The winning Powerball numbers were 13-17-35-45-50. The Powerball was 2, and the Power Play multiplier was also 2. Purchased at the Country Food Mart in New Castle, this is the third winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Pennsylvania in the past seven months; winning Powerball jackpot tickets also were sold here for the May 8 and May 29 drawings.

The winner has 60 days from the date he or she claims a prize to decide between a $171.4 million annuity paid over 29 years or a one-time payment of $93,428,155.06. The Pennsylvania Lottery encourages the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, contact a financial adviser, and then contact Lottery Headquarters, (717) 986-4720. The prize must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County. A claim can be filed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
