16 City Swimming Pools Open Today
Wednesday June 16, 2004
Despite Pittsburgh's nagging financial problems, 16 of the city's 31 outdoor swimming pools are opening for the season today. After having to close the pools early last summer due to lack of funding, the city is now able to reopen them thanks to $625,000 donated by local foundations, corporations and private citizens through the Save Our Summer initiative. Free admission to all 16 pools is available to anyone who applies for a pool tag, whether or not they are an area resident.
