Panthers Pounded in Big East Championship
Saturday March 13, 2004
Ninth-ranked Connecticut held on for a 61-58 comeback victory over No. 6 Pittsburgh in the championship game of the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden today. What hurts more than giving the win to the Huskies (the Panthers are still the regular-season Big East champions, after all), is that Pittsburgh most likely lost their chance to capture their first-ever No. 1 seed in the Men's NCAA Tournament with the loss.
