Summer of Andy
Wednesday August 6, 2003
If Andy Warhol had lived, today would have been his 75th birthday. The Andy Warhol Museum is celebrating the occasion with 75-cent admission, art-making, a non-perishable food drive, and free birthday cake. It's all part of "Summer of Andy," a summer-long celebration filled with performances, lectures, fascinating exhibitions, and of course, lots of parties.
Warhol’s 75th birthday celebration continues into the weekend, August 9-10, as visitors receive $1 off regular- priced admission with offerings of non-perishable items for the food drive. Special hands-on art activities celebrating Warhol’s methods and techniques will continue at the Weekend Factory. In addition, archivists at The Warhol will be recording personal stories and memories from current and former Pittsburgh residents related to the cultural climate of Pittsburgh in the 1930s and 1940s.
